Pregnancy Week 20

BirthWatch ticker week for 20

"Your baby will respond to touch and sound. Loud noises startle your baby and may make your baby kick and jump."

More About Week 20:

  • Your baby's skin is producing vernix, a white, waxy coating that protects the skin from the amniotic fluid.
  • The soles of your baby's feet may touch.
  • Your baby's nipples are starting to appear.
  • Your baby explores and touches the placenta and plays with the umbilical cord while in utero. All that activity promotes considerable brain growth.
  • A baby at this stage of development is about 8 inches long and weighs about 12 ounces.
  • Until now all babies are measured for length from the crown of their heads to their rumps (bottoms). After the 20th week, babies are measured from head to heel.
