"Your baby's pulse speeds up when he or she hears music."

More About Week 28:

  • Your baby's eyelids may open for the first time.
  • Your baby's eyes will likely be some shade of blue at birth although some babies are born with brown eyes.
  • The baby is putting on layers of fat now, which your baby will need to regulate their body temperature after birth.
  • Your baby's eyes need light exposure to develop their final pigmentation. That's why babies are born with dark blue, grey or sometimes brown eyes at birth.
  • Your baby's eyelashes are fully developed and help protect his or her eyes from the floating bits of vernix and lanugo in the amniotic fluid.
  • Your baby is about 14 inches long and weighs 2 pounds.
